
Welcome to Hervey Bay Swimming Club and Swim Squad – a community-focused club dedicated to helping swimmers of all ages and abilities thrive. Whether you're diving in for fitness, fun, or competition, our experienced coaches and supportive squad environment provide the perfect platform to grow in and out of the pool.
OUR SQUAD PROGRAMS
Our squads cater to a wide range of swimmers, from young beginners graduating from learn to swim/TCS to competitive athletes chasing personal bests. We train at the Hervey Bay Aquatic Centre in the 25m and 50m pools. With structured squads, expert coaching and a strong focus on progression, Hervey Bay Swimming Club offers a pathway for every swimmer. We value teamwork, personal growth and creating a positive, inclusive environment for all.
Our squad sessions are based on weekly attendance, swimmers are welcome to attend as many sessions within the week as they like. We also offer convenient pay-as-you-go options for casual attendance. We understand the juggle of multiple swimmers! Families receive a 10% discount for their second swimmer, 20% for their third (does not apply for PAYG/holiday program). All registrations and payments are completed via the online portal. Simply follow the prompts to sign up and select the program that’s right for you.

Yellow Squad
Our Yellow Squad is our foundational youth program, It’s ideal for those progressing from learn-to-swim/TCS and introduces swimmers to the structure of squad training in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Please arrive early to complete dryland warm up.

Blue Squad
Our Blue Squad is for swimmers focused on both competition and fitness. Sessions build stroke efficiency, race skills, conditioning and endurance, with structured training and long-term development goals. Please arrive early to complete dryland warm up.

Tuesday to Thursday: 4.30 - 6.30pm
Friday (sprint set): 4.30 - 5.30pm

Open Squad
Our Open Squad is suited to adult swimmers who wish to train in the mornings. Ideal for fitness-focused swimmers, triathletes or adults looking for a supportive and flexible training environment.

September 2026 School Holiday Program:
Looking to keep active and build confidence in the pool these school holidays? Our School Holiday Swim Squad Program is perfect for school-aged swimmers, from those progressing their skills to those wanting extra fitness and pool time during the break.
Dates: 22 September-2 October (Tuesday to Friday each week) | Time: 3:30 – 4:30 pm
Location: 50m heated pool, Hervey Bay Aquatic Centre
Flat Fee: $50 for all 8 sessions
Who Can Join?
• School-age swimmers confident in swimming 50m freestyle and 25m of another stroke (or progressing toward this ability)

MEET OUR COACHING TEAM

Head Coach
Michael 'Mick' Winton
Mick brings extensive experience across squad development and performance programming, including at Fairholme College in Toowoomba. He has also coached and led programs at Charleville Swimming Pool and Tin Can Bay.
Mick has coached swimmers through to Queensland championship titles and national teams. He has been recognised with the Development Coach of the Year award (Darling Downs Swimming Association, 2024/2025) and received a 2025 award from Swim Coaches and Teachers Queensland in connection with his coaching at the Emerging Age Championships, including his work supporting a swimmer with a disability.

Assistant Coach
Hayden Davis
Hayden is an experienced swim coach who has worked across both squad coaching and learn-to-swim programs, with a strong focus on building confident, capable swimmers through clear instruction and consistent routines.
He brings a practical, supportive coaching style that prioritises technique, positive training habits and steady progression — helping swimmers develop fitness, skills and racing readiness in a welcoming environment.

Hervey Bay Swimming Club is a not-for-profit run by a passionate volunteer committee, dedicated to creating opportunities for local swimmers. Every decision we make supports the growth of our club, the development of our swimmers and the strength of our community.
