2025–26 Squad Scholarship Program

Applications now open for Term 4 (2025) and Term 1 (2026) placements Applications close 9am, Sunday 14 September 2025

Hervey Bay Swimming Club is proud to launch its Squad Scholarship Program, designed to support young swimmers in our region who show potential, passion, or simply love being in the water, but may not currently have access to squad training.

 

We are offering two fully-funded squad placements:

• One scholarship for youth swimmers (ages 7–12)

• One scholarship for teen swimmers (ages 13–17)

 

This program runs across Term 4 (2025), including December/January school holidays and Term 1 (2026). It covers all squad training fees for the scholarship period.

Entry to the Aquatic Centre is not included.

 

Who is eligible?

 

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The swimmer is not currently registered as a competitive swimmer with any swimming club in Queensland

  • The swimmer is not currently a member of or enrolled in any Hervey Bay Swimming Club program

  • Aged 7 to 17, residing in the Hervey Bay region

  • Able to complete laps unaided (this is not a learn-to-swim program)

  • Able to commit to a minimum level of squad participation, as advised by our coach

  • Please note: Some basic training equipment may be required, such as fins, a kickboard or goggles. Guidance will be provided if your child is selected.

 

Training Options

 

Squad placement will depend on age and ability, but general training times include:

 

Youth (7–12 years)

Tuesday 4-6.30pm includes Club Night (compulsory)

Wednesday to Friday, 3.30 – 4.30pm

Saturday morning session 8.00 - 9.15am

 

Teen (13–17 years)

Tuesday 4-6.30pm includes Club Night (compulsory)

Tuesday to Friday, 5.30 – 7.30am

Wednesday to Thursday, 4.15 – 6.30pm

Friday, 4.15 - 5.30pm

Saturday morning session 8.00 - 11.15am

 

There is no obligation to continue with the squad beyond the scholarship period, though we’d love to see you stick around if you enjoy it!

Applications open Monday 11 August 2025.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome by Sunday 21 September 2025.
